Tenerife Day 2 - La Laguna

We had cereal and coffee for breakfast in the apartment, then drove north east on the motorway for about an hour to La Laguna, a historic old town. We parked and paid 2 euros to a dodgy looking character then went for a walk round old town. It's got quite a nice centre with lots of old buildings.

Then we drove on to Cruz del Carmen, a popular car park and bar/restaurant up in the hills. Our walk was mainly downhill, starting from about 950m, getting down to about 550m, before walking all the way back up.

It was quite cloudy and cool, being in the northern part of the island. We walked down through laurel forests, saw goats, chickens, lots of birds, cave houses and orange trees.

We walked as far as Chinamada, then round by road to  Las Carboneras, before once again finding the long uphill track back to the start

This is a Berthelot's Pipit.

We then drove back to Palm Mar, showered and rested then went out to local restaurant Las Pescaido, where we had a selection of tapas - shrimps, aubergines, pork and local Canarian potatoes.
