Our flight from Edinburgh to Madrid was at 12.20, so we dropped Oscar off at Ardoch Kennels at 10am and drove to park in the long term car park. Everything went to plan and our Easyjet flight landed in Madrid at about 4.30pm.
Our apartment booking at Booking.com had given us a free airport transfer by taxi, so after a little while searching we found our driver. He drove us to our apartment in central Madrid, mostly in tunnels.
Our host was waiting at the apartment on the first floor and showed us round and gave us the keys, and other information about attractions, restaurants, shops etc.
The one-bedroom apartment is really nice and has everything we'll need.
It has a small balcony that looks out onto the street.
After unpacking we went out for a walk in the local area, starting with a drink in Beer Station. They gave us some peanuts to eat, after a little prompting.
It started raining though, so we decided not to wander too far. We had another drink in a taverna, with some olives given as tapas, then went to our local Dia supermarket to buy provisions and dinner.
We had pizza cooked in our oven, which was actually really good.
