The Easyjet flight from Edinburgh to Paris was scheduled for 10.30am, so we left the house just after 7am and drove to the Long Stay car park.
We had a coffee while waiting, and then the flight took off pretty much on time.
We arrived at Charles de Gaulle airport just after one, and walked to the train station. We bought single train tickets into the city, and Navigo Easy cards for the Metro with 10 journeys on each. One of the fast trains was just leaving so we caught that and were at Gare du Nord within half an hour.
We decided to walk the 30 minutes to our hotel, and stopped at a Turkish restaurant for something to eat on the way. We both had Dürüm kebab wraps with chips, which was pretty good and filling.
We passed through Place de la République.
We stopped at an Aldi to buy some beer, wine and snacks, then arrived at our hotel, Mary's République, at about 4pm.
The room is pretty small but it's clean and it's going to be fine.
After unpacking we went out for a walk. First we had a pint in the bar next to the hotel called Les Affranchis.
Not far down the street ls Place de la Bastille.
Just past that is Canal Saint-Martin, which is a nice stretch of water with some boats moored in it. We walked down the side, across the bridge Passerelle de Mornay, and back up again.
We walked back to the vicinity of the hotel and had another drink at a bar. Having had a big late lunch we weren't that hungry, so we just had drinks and snacks in the room.
