France Trip - Day 10

We left the Le Clein site this morning and headed further south. According to the forecast this is to be the last day of the heatwave. We're heading for the Île de Noirmoutier, an island connected to the mainland by a bridge. We went shopping at Lidl before leaving Le Pouliguen.

There's a causeway to the island that's exposed at low tide. The tide wasn't right for us, but we went to have a look at it anyway.

Oscar had a paddle.

We re-joined the main road and drove over the bridge to the island. We booked in to Camping des Roussières on the outskirts of Noirmoutier town for 3 nights, again choosing a shady pitch enclosed by hedges. This was more expensive than the last site at about £24.60 per night including electricity. The facilities were pretty good though.

We went for a stroll out of the bottom of the site and onto the nearest beach, it was still hot.

The island is very flat and there are a lot of cycle lanes, so we decided to book the hire of two bikes for two days staring tomorrow, with a trailer for Oscar.

For dinner we had salad - tuna, watercress, spring onions, cucumber, tomato, coleslaw, and beetroot salad.
