Spain - Day 26

We left Mallén, stopping at a supermarket for provisions on the way. We were heading for the north coast of Spain, and the motorway took us on a spectacular route down a gorge.

We have booked 4 nights in Grand Camping Zarautz, which is high on a clifftop above the town of Zarautz. It's 27 euros per night including electricity and Wi-Fi, at the ACSI rate. We've got a sea-view pitch.

It's 439 steps down to the promenade (and back up again). We went down for a walk, there's a boardwalk between the beach and a golf course.

We walked to the other end of the promenade, and bought an ice cream on the way.

It seems to be a popular spot for surfers.

We walked back up the steps to the site. Later on there was a nice sunset.

For dinner we had paella that we'd bought at the supermarket.

Spain - Day 25

We left the Benigembla site and started to head towards the north coast. We took a different route to our way down, this time we were on the motorway as it went over the high plain, up to 1200 metres above sea level. At various times there were mile after mile of almond blossom, olive trees, oranges and other crops.

We stopped at a free aire in the village of Mallén, which had water and waste facilities.

We took a walk into town, it had a church, and an interesting round plaza surrounded by houses.

We had a drink in a bar by the crossroads, then walked back. On the way we saw a load of egrets settling in the trees.

Later for dinner we had Spanish tortilla with peas and sweetcorn.
