Norfolk Broads Day 3

We had a slightly later start today, as all we had to do was slowly make our way back to base for the flight in the afternoon.

We set off about 8am, first heading west to Wroxham where the river is busier, with lots of boatyards and houses by the waterside.

After a very pleasant trip Jenny and Gordon gave us a lift back to Norwich airport for our flight home.

Norfolk Broads Day 2

Jenny and Gordon were up early and had cast off and started our journey before we even got up. We pootled along, while having bacon rolls for breakfast.

Because it was so early there was plenty of bird life around on the rivers and broads, we saw herons, grebes, plenty of ducks and possibly a marsh harrier.

We spent a pleasant morning travelling down to Rownham, where we moored up.

Meeting us here were Shirley's sister Linda with her partner Paul, and Jenny's daughters Fi and Ali and their partners Tom and Gary. Fi and Tom have a young Labradoodle cross called Molly.

We went for a walk to the church and climbed the steeple which had great views all around.

We then all went for lunch in the Maltsters Inn for lunch, after which we went back to the boat for some birthday cake (for Jenny's 60th).

Later we went for a longer walk to South Walsham and back, before those who weren't staying on the boat left.

Norfolk Broads Day 1

We took a day off work on Friday to have a long weekend on Jenny (Shirley's sister) and her husband Gordon's boat on the Norfolk Broads.

First we got a taxi to Edinburgh airport, for a 10.40 flight to Norwich. At Norwich we were met by Jenny, Gordon and Phyllis (Shirley's older sister). They drove us to Richardson's boat yard in Stalham where their boat is moored.

We had lunch at the snack van in the yard - burgers, bacon baps etc.

After lunch we set off down the broads. The weather was sunny with some clouds, pleasantly warm.

We stopped at Toad Hole Cottage museum and had a look round, then took Ben for a short walk.

We carried on a bit and stopped at St Benet's Abbey and had a walk round. We moored here for the night.
